Welcome to SHU Film Society!
Film Society is a home for all movie enjoyers, the cinephile as well as the casual film goer, based around regular screenings of a specially curated programme by our committee and suggestions from our members! We hope to offer a varied programme of genres, themed months, old films and new, the blockbusters and the more obscure, foreign language and perhaps the odd little screening for the memes...
As a social society, we intend to hold a range of events from cinema trips and film quiz nights to movie debates, society collaborations and the usual pub social after screenings - alcohol not required of course! We will attend regular cinema trips to our local cinemas and film clubs to watch new releases, old classics and everything in between, running any prequels to new releases at FilmSoc screenings so you won’t miss out! When and Where?
We hold twice weekly screenings on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6:30pm. Our screenings take place in The Void lecture theatre and cinema, located on floor 1 of the Owen Building. To find us, ride the lift all the way down to the bottom floor of Owen Building, when you exit enter the door to the left of the screen and head straight down the corridor.
Admission and Membership
We charge no admission, nor membership fees for our screenings in The Void - just turn up! Any socials, such as cinema trips, will require you to purchase your own cinema ticket, however we will provide info for the best deals and discounts in the city!
